The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. We operate trains daily from late March to the end of October.

We are looking for a carriage cleaner to work with the small team looking after our carriages on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. The successful applicant will undertake a variety of cleaning tasks including cleaning carriages both internally and externally, and general cleaning duties including the station toilets. This position will be based at Dinas station, near Caernarfon, however you may be required to work at other locations on occasion. You must be able to work cleanly and tidily; ideally you will have experience of commercial cleaning, however lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard is all that’s required as full training can be provided.

Core Skills:

  • Able to deliver excellent levels of cleanliness
  • Good communication skills and a cheerful disposition are essential
  • Able to work on own initiative or as directed
  • Must be able to work alone or as part of a small team
  • Must be willing to work outside in all weathers
  • Must be punctual and reliable at all times
  • The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage as would knowledge of the railways and their passengers; and the local area.

 

Hours of work will be up to 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate would be able to work shifts any day of the week, including weekends.

This position will require lone working. Candidates will be required to work in locations not easily accessible by public transport and early starts are required therefore access to private transport and a full driving licence are desirable. 

This is a seasonal position for immediate start, to the end of October 2022. Rate of pay meets National Living / minimum Wage for age. Applicants for this position must have the right to work in the UK.
